It’s time for Page Two: news that might not make the front page for Friday, November 14, 2025.

Does downtown Palmer have a parking problem? Yes or No? Most drivers in downtown Palmer don’t have trouble finding parking, that is until there is a major event. That’s one of the early takeaways from a city-funded parking and walkability study, first reported by the Mat-Su Sentinel.

The consulting firm RESPEC leads the $50,000 study. Planner Maija DiSalvo shared the preliminary findings during a recent open house, the Sentinel reported.

“The consensus is that parking is not a significant challenge for most people in Palmer,” DiSalvo said.

“Event-specific parking, ADA accessibility, and some of those missing connections, those are things we’ve consistently heard,” she said.

The survey gathered input from more than 350 residents and about two dozen business owners.

The full report is expected in early 2026 and may recommend updates to parking codes, improved signage, or changes to pedestrian and bicycle access.

Complete coverage is available at Mat-Su Sentinel.
