Clean-up Days for the Mat-Su Valley 

Spring has sprung and it  is time to clean up the last presents from winter. 

Clean- up days and weeks are planned for all over the Valley.

In alphabetical order we have the following cleanup-up events for the Valley. 

Butte has planned a Jim’s Creek Clean-up for May 10th  10:00 am – 2:00 pm 

This event is family friendly and encourages community members to help clean up the area. Everyone should meet at the Knick River Public Use Area Parking. (next to the campground) 

There may be other clean-up events, but there are no details at this time.

Glacier View is cleaning up the whole month of May; from May 2nd to June 2nd. There will be a Community picnic on Saturday June 1st at 4:00 pm.

In Palmer, the Spring Clean-up is from May 5th – May 9th. Disposal is  at the MTA Events Center, 1317 Sith Kerry Weiland Court. 

Cleanup Day Saturday, May 10th starts at 9:00 am at the Old Palmer Public Library parking lot.  Free BBQ for participants at 11:30 am and bike raffle (18 & under) at 11:45 am. You can pick up yellow bags from the Library parking lot. 

Sutton is cleaning up from May 2nd – May 12th. Please contact the library for bags. Full bags can be dropped off at the Sutton Transfer Site on May 4th, ​May 5th, 11th and 12th. Drop off times are 10:00 am – 5:00 pm on each of these days.

Wasilla’s clean up days are May 5th – 10th. You can pick up your yellow ALPAR bags as early as April 28th from Wasilla City Hall, Menard Sports Center, and the Wasilla Museum. Cleanup areas include all public lands such as streets and parks. Drop off is May 10th at 9:00 am –  5:00pm. The dumpster will be in the Iditarod parking lot next to the basketball courts and Nelson Avenue. To win prizes you must take a picture of the area, post it on your Facebooks page, and tag #wasillaparks&recreation. You can also email the photo to recreation@cityofwasilla.gov. If you email the photo be sure to include your name, phone number, and permission to use the photo. Prizes will be picked in a random drawing on May14th. You do not need to be present to win.
