It’s time for Page Two: News that might not make the front page for Wednesday February 11, 2026.

Learn about the history of Susitna River trout management and research with Daryl Lescanec at the Matanuska Brewery event room at 6 p.m. tonight.

The Fireside Book Club discusses Lady Tan’s Circle of Women by Lisa See from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Fireside Books tonight.

Matt Hopper and the Roman Candles play Palmer Alehouse Unplugged tomorrow from 6 to 9 p.m. This free event for all ages has limited seating. Attendees under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Here are some things happening on Friday: 

The first annual Valentine’s Ballroom Bash at the Four Corners Lounge is a fundraiser for Alaska’s Healing Hearts. Healing Hearts offers year-round outdoor recreational opportunities for our wounded warriors and their families. It is sponsored by the Mechanical Cavalry Motorcycle Club. Admission at the door is $30.00 for a couple $20.00 for single. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Get your Valentine’s Day flowers at a pop-up flower shop on Friday or Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Cold Moon Collective. Create your own custom bouquet at the flower bar or choose from a selection of  bouquets.They are located at 426 Glenn Highway in Palmer. 

The Reached 907 Gala Is on Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wasilla Bible Church. Reach 907 is celebrating 12 years of serving youth in Alaska. More info and tickets are at reach907ak.org.

Here are some Valentines Day events.

Author Erika Watson signs copies of her book Ghosts of Distant Trees from 1 to 4 p.m. at Fireside Books. This collection of lyric and narrative essays focuses on Denali National Park. It explores themes of ecology, climate change, community, and belonging. 

Bandandy plays Hatcher Pass Lodge on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Ken Peltier at the Palmer Alehouse Unplugged is sold out.

And here are a few more things to do on Sunday:

The Books and Bites Cozy Book Fair is at Lekker on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Enjoy cozy books selected by your Fireside Books paired with a special treat prepared by Lekker Coffee and Baking Company. Mary Odden will be signing copies of her book Upcountry Cranberry.

The Matsu Orchestra plays at 3 p.m. at the Palmer Train Depot. This is a benefit for the Friends of the Palmer Public Library.

On Monday watch the films Super Salmon and Undammed followed by a panel discussion on free rivers and salmon. Learn about the difference between well-sited hydro power and harmful projects. This event runs  6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Palmer Train Depot.
