It’s time for Page Two: News that might not make the front page for Thursday December 11, 2025.
Colony Christmas is for the kid inside all of us. It runs tomorrow through Sunday. These hand-picked events will thrill your kids and the kid in you. Check the online schedule for specific times.
Here are a few events happening every day of Colony Christmas.
Visit the Nativity Display at the Latter Day Saints Church, 560 W Bogard Road. Stop by the Maple Springs Christmas Tree Festival at 12130 E Maple Springs Wy. Visit the Holiday Market in the Borough Gym and admire the Festival of Trees.

Saturday is the biggest day of Colony Christmas.
Start it off with the Lions Club breakfast from 8:30 to 11 a.m. The cost is $10 per person over 12, $7 for 6 to 12 year olds , and free for children 5 and under.
Write a letter to Santa at the Palmer Museum of History and Art between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Tour the downtown the old-fashioned way. The hayride goes between the borough gym, the Depot and the Art Cafe between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Santa shows up at the Borough Gym at 11 a.m. for visits and photos.
While in the gym, take a moment to admire the Festival of Trees. The reindeer show up outside the gym at noon for petting and photos.
For fun, stop by Whimsy in the Koslosky Building and get your face painted. If you’re feeling creative, make a tree ornament with an origami crane at the Log Church. Both start at noon.
To burn off energy, head over to the MTA Events Center for a Festive Holiday Skate from 1:30 to 3:45 p.m. The fee is $5 and skate rental is $3.
Top off the day with the Parade of Lights at 5 p.m. The fireworks follow at about 6:15 p.m..
Your kids should be plenty tired by now. Probably you, too. Tired and happy.
For a more laid back Colony Christmas, come back on Sunday. The borough gym opens at noon with Santa, the Festival of Trees, and the reindeer out front.
Use the online schedule at palmerchamber.org to plan your day. Select Colony Christmas from the Events dropdown menu. Scroll down past the big schedule button to the smaller button named “2025 Event Information.” Select the Schedule link on that page.

Listen to Christmas carols played on handbells at the Log Church on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Matanuska Susitna Orchestra Christmas Concert is on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Log Church. It’s free.
BandyAndy Performs at Hatcher Pass Lodge on Saturday from 4 to 7p.m.
Cantora Arctica Women’s Choir performs on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1150 East Helen Dr. in Palmer.
The Mat-Su Community Chorus presents Northern Lights: Seasonal Songs of Wonder and Awe on Sunday at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 4 p.m. General admission $10 and $5 for seniors and students.
Come sing with the Handel’s Messiah Sing Along at the Glenn Massay Theatre on Sunday at 2 or 7 p.m.
The holiday tree tour at Government Peak Recreation Area is rescheduled for this Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m.
On Valley Edition at 5 p.m. tomorrow and noon Saturday, Mike interviews Megan Cacciola from the Alaska Community Foundation on their Western Alaska Relief Efforts.
Page 2 airs weekdays at 7 a.m., 9 a.m., 11:55 a.m., and about 6 p.m.
