It’s time for Page Two: News that might not make the front page for Friday, November 21, 2025.

Shop Palmer runs through December 18.  Support local businesses in downtown Palmer  and enter to win gift card prizes. The grand prize is $1,000 gift cards! 

Earn a stamp for every $10 spent at a participating business. Fill your Shop Palmer card with 10 stamps for a chance to win. You can fill and enter multiple Shop Palmer cards. The last day to enter is Thurday December 18.

Weekly drawings for $500 in gift cards are on December 1, 8, 15, and 22. One lucky shopper will win $1,000 in gift cards to Palmer businesses in the final grand prize. 

Weekly winners can choose either two $250 gift cards or one $500 gift card to participating businesses.  The grand prize winner receives $1,000 to spend at one location or split among up to four participating businesses at $250 each.

Shop Palmer is sponsored by the Palmer Chamber of Commerce.

The Wasilla Chamber hosts “Support Local November.”  Shoppers can visit any of more than 20 Wasilla businesses for a chance to win prizes. No purchase necessary. 

The Shop Local campaign features six pop-up events with door prizes. The next one is November 24 at Big Dipper Homemade Ice Cream in Wasilla.

The Alaska Vintage Holiday Market and Food Truck Fest opens at  noon today and runs until  6 p.m. at the Alaska State Fairgrounds. It’s open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The festival also runs next weekend. One day passes on Fridays and Saturdays are $5. Sundays are free. 

Parlor in the Round is Alaska’s own songwriter game show. The 11th annual Parlor in the Round is at the Glenn Massay Theater tonight at 7 p.m. Its improv twist and all-star lineup are guaranteed to delight. Performers include Braden Rollins, Barbara Lica, and The Robotz. 

Everyone needs a laugh. Comedian Bo Johnson continues the Friday night comedy tradition at Everetts on Wasilla Lake. Bo takes the mic at 7:30 p.m. 

A Charlie Brown Christmas and the radio drama It’s a Wonderful Life open tonight at 7 p.m. at Valley Performing Arts. Performances continue on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays 2 p.m. through December 14th. 

The Museum of Alaska in Wasilla hosts its annual holiday market this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5. Kids 10 and under are free.

First responders face off at the Menard Sports Center Saturday night. Firefighters and police officers swap their uniforms for hockey sticks at the 4th Annual Guns-N-Hoses Charity Hockey Game. This epic hockey showdown also features entertainment and a beer & wine garden. It’s just $12. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Skate with players 6 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m.

If baseball is more your style, the Mat-Su Miners Fall Fundraiser is Saturday night at the Palmer Depot. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $65 each and $45 for designated drivers. For tickets and info, call 907-745-6401 or email generalmgrminers@gmail.com.

The Palmer Arts Council hosts a Songwriting Workshop with Parlor in the Round performers at the Glenn Massay Theater today. Participants  learn songwriting techniques and tips. This workshop is free and starts at 4 p.m. Register at palmerarts.org

Black Birch Books in Wasilla hosts a “Friendsgiving” potluck and food drive from 5 to 6:30 p.m today. Bring a favorite dish to share as well as nonperishable and canned goods. This free event is open to all.

Lew Bradley tells stories about his many years in the high country chasing Dall Sheep at the Palmer Ale House at 6 p.m. tonight.
