The filing period for candidates for local elections is July 17 through July 28 for the cities of Palmer, Wasilla, and Houston. To be a candidate, you need to be registered to vote in the city and you need to have lived there for at least a year.

Palmer
Palmer has openings for two council seats each for three-year terms.
Deadline to withdraw is 4pm on Aug 4.
In the city of Palmer you need to collect 20 signatures on a petition of residents who support your candidacy. It’s recommended you get more than 20 signatures in case for some reason someone’s signature is not valid.
Wasilla
Wasilla has openings for the mayor and two council seats each for three-year terms

Houston
Houston has openings for three council seats: two for three-year terms and one for a one year turn
