Second Saturday Art Walk

Stop by the studio between 11 am and 7 pm on Saturday July 13 to see quilts by Ruth Simpson, aka Luta. Her quilts have provided soundproofing in the studio. You can also tour the studio and see the new microphones.
Thank You Rasmuson Foundation

Thank you Rasmuson Foundation!

Radio Free Palmer received an $18,200 grant from the Rasmuson Foundation. We are thrilled to be able to fund:

  • New microphones in the studio
  • New transmitter in Sutton for increased reliability and quality
  • Backup power generation for the Lazy Mountain translator
  • Field recording kits to facilitate more local news and story creation

Mike is working hard to get all the equipment purchased and installed by the Fair.

Programming Update

Be on the look out for a new show by Dan Grota on veterans’ issues. Dan has been co-hosting the morning show on Tuesdays with Mike and is ready to launch out on his own.
Our programming lineup has changed a little this summer:

  • Michael Miller cut Tech Talk down to ½ hour until Paul gets back.
  • Laura Sampson is taking the summer off, and we expect her back in the fall.
  • For the fall, we are in conversations with a couple teachers, looking at a Sutton show, and exploring some national programming. We also have someone interested in doing an old/new school rock show.

More Events

As the summer flows on, we are gearing up for these events:

  • Broadcasting from the State Fair again. This year, we will be in the back of Raven Hall near the UPS Store booth.
  • Our first pledge drive on October 12 – a Second Saturday event
  • Continued activities on Second Saturdays

License Renewal

Our station license is up for renewal in October. We are getting all the paperwork in order with the help of a lawyer specializing in radio stations. This is our first renewal and we want it to go smoothly.

You Are Part of the Solution

One last thing – summer brings its usual cash flow crunch. If you can make a donation – or find a friend to join it would be a big help. We are also looking for sustaining members who can make a monthly donation via Pay Pal. Thank you for supporting your community radio station!
